I am a Past Master of Arcadia Lodge #249 in Ames, Iowa.

I am retired and several years ago I decided to take up web designing as a hobby (with still a lot to learn).

I am striving to do my part in helping promote Masonry in this way.

Whether you live in a small town or a big city, the need is there to get in touch and remain in touch, not only with the Masonic Fraternity, but the public at large. Masonry has so much to share. We want everyone to know just who Masons are and what they represent. We want them to know our history, our charitable endeavors, the support we offer to the public school system, and our interest in belonging to the community-minded team comprised of individuals working together for the good of the whole.

We may have lodge newsletters, but there are additional ways to bring our lodge activities and community involvement to light. One that is gaining increasing popularity is establishing your lodge’s own web site. Whether or not Masonic brethren have computers, all of them either know someone who does or has access to a computer. These web sites provide a great deal of information that anyone with a computer can access. These sites put out such information as: Lodge meeting dates and times; your calendar of events; contact information, lodge history, and details on becoming a Mason, just to name a few.

For your brothers who may not be able to come to lodge often, for those brother Masons who travel and want to find out the meeting day and time for your lodge; for those in the general public who are interested in Masonry in general and your lodge in particular, a web site brings everyone a little closer, a little more in touch with one another. It’s fast and it’s helpful. For a meager amount, the investment in a lodge web site is worthwhile. Please consider it!

IowaMasons.com is a top rated site and easy to find with search engines, making it easy to find by not only all other masons throughout the state as well as the rest of the world, but also a site that is easily found by any individuals that are interesting in masonry as well. I have received e-mails from all over the United States as well as from individuals from other countries. I use a hosting service that has no pop up ads or spy ware. This does cost a little more than some of the free or inexpensive hosting services, but I feel much better knowing people who visit the site are not subjected to things of that nature. Having a site that is easy to find makes it much more usable to the Lodges that belong to it.
