Here is Brother Mike’s e-mail summary:

Brother B.O. Bryngelson and I attended the International Mid-Year Convention held November 14 and 15 in Irving, TX. Hosted by the Goodnight/Loving Club of Fort Worth.  We arrived on Friday morning at ten minutes to 10:00 AM for the Governing Board Session after being advised by 2nd International President Bob Smith of the time change from 1:00 PM.  Unfortunately, B.O. & I found this not amusing at all and not true, as we had driven in the rain and fog for a majority of the night.  At the 1:00 PM, meeting a quorum was established after roll call and Pres. Tucker chaired the meeting.    The minutes of the June International Convention in Evansville, IN. were read and corrected (Please see the word for word on the corrections on line at High Twelve International’s web site after Wednesday the 19th ) Brother Jerry Sevill of California was named to replace Bob Ramisch of Florida  as International Secretary, this action was confirmed 18 Yes 0 No.  The Int. office will be relocated to California after the New Year.  The Liability Insurance Policy currently costing $1.31 for each member is mandatory from the Grand Lodges to maintain recognition of our Clubs.

The Executive Board asked the Governing Board to join with them in indorsing a motion for a $1.50 due’s increase this year and each of the following 3 years to establish a cushion in operating capital for the International, after vigorous discussion the Vote was 6 Yes & 12 No, the motion was not endorsed.  The 6 Yes votes all were from the Executive Committee the 12 No’s from the State Associations.

President Tucker issued an executive order that the only Bill that would be drawn would be for the last two months of Julie’s (Secretary at the Int. office) salary and office expenses.  No travel reimbursements would be paid at this time.
President Tucker and the Executive Board wanted to make changes in the monthly report to show the financial condition of each Club, Savings & endowed Fund related to the Club’s.  This was also turned down.
I encourage you to read Bro. Seville’s report on the web site after the middle of next week as he recorded the conference and will have it word for word and not from notes.

Big Mike Lavelle, 1st VP, I.A.S.D.

Fellow High Twelvians, at the Midyear meeting a discussion was held on the requirement of local clubs and state associations for the procedures to file the new IRS form 990-N.     All the clubs and state associations are listed on our group exemption.    You DO NOT have to file the form 990-N.   If your receipts are under $25,000.00 annually you do not have to file the Form 990-EZ.

We have just received the group exemption list from the IRS on Thursday, November 13, 2008.   We are looking at this list and if there are clubs and/or state associations NOT on this list we will notify that individual Club President/Club Secretary.

Attached is a copy of the regulation that is posted on the IRS website telling you that subordinate organizations that are under a group exemption do not have to file the Form 990-N.  This should resolve the questions at this time.    If the IRS changes their current procedures (which they can do), we will notify you.

Please notify all your Club Presidents and Club Secretaries about this.  Thanks.

This is going to the printer a couple of days early due to the Thanksgiving holiday – and my travel….

OFFICIAL NOTICE: 2009 DUES ARE DUE!!!
Still at $52.00.

Please pay them to Tom Gruis, Secretary or Charles Kivett, Treasurer.

Thanks to those who have already paid!

Please honor the Masonic practice of “demitting” which means you meet your responsibility and pay your dues up to date and do not just say “I resign” or equivalent. The Club must still pay per-capita to both Iowa / South Dakota Association and to International based on membership on the last 31 December.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fraternal and friendly wishes for a wonderful holiday season
– and please do travel safe in ALL senses of the words!

Tom.
