On June 16, 2010, Br. Shannon Spooner was raised a Master Mason. I’m impressed with the Brother and his ability to read lips although he is hearing impaired. He has worked hard with Br. Rob Ebensberger preparing and reciting his proficiency in open Lodge. Congratulations to Br. Spooner.
The Annual Fishing Tournament or challenge between Camanche Lodge #60 & Lyons Lodge #93 has been CANCELED for 2010. On July 31st, the waters had risen to make fishing the Mississippi unsafe. Both Lodges agreed that postponing the event until September would be practical; however, the only available weekend is September 18th which is slated for the Grand Lodge Communication in Sioux City. Br. Jeff Brown JW, Br. Mark Cottrell JD, and myself will be in attendance. After a lengthy discussion with Br. Guy McCausland PM, we agreed to cancel until 2011. The fishing trophy will remain in Camanche until next summer!
On August 6, 2010, an Outdoor Third Degree was held at the Izzak Walton League for Br. Shane Nixon, Camanche Lodge #60. The Degree was made possible by Brethren from both Camanche Lodge #60 and Lyons Lodge #93. The Grand Lodge was well represented during the Degree, and many area Lodges had Brothers on the sideline enjoying the outdoor evening. The meal prepared by Br. Bob Alm, Camanche Lodge #60, consisted of ribs and chicken and was excellent. Thanks again Br. Bob!
Lyons Lodge #93 has a First Degree scheduled for Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at 7:00 pm for Ray Druien. Ray is 21 years of age and may be the youngest candidate in the area seeking the Degrees of Masonry. Br. Howard Neese PM will be working with the Candidate for proficiency. The Degree cast is being prepared by Br. Lee Hawkins SD.
The Second Degree is scheduled for Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 7:00 pm.
I have enjoyed serving the Lodge and find my year as Master quickly coming to an end. Masonry is a great work of life!
In Masonry,
Dave Jindrich WM
