Well, I'm off and running as Worshipful Master Elect of Lyons Lodge #93. The Lodge is moving toward going ON LINE IN 2010 by establishing a web page through the Iowa Grand Lodge. The Lodge Officers photos have been taken, the membership list completed, 50 year members designated, history of the Lodge reviewed, and contact information provided. Establishing a webpage will provide more information for Brothers seeking to visit, and for candidates to review the history and officers of the Lodge. I like the feature that allows putting current events and newsletters on the webpage for Lodge members to keep informed.
I would like to thank Br. Mark Cottrell MI and Grand Marshall, Past Master Guy McCausland #60, Br. Jim Pfeiffer #60, for attending the Feast of the Holy Saints John at the Bettendorf Masonic Center with me on December 27, 2009. I especially enjoy this event every year hosted by the Scott County Masonic Fellowship. It allows all Masons to let go of the past year and welcome in the new year. The featured speaker was Gary L. Sissel, Sovereign Grand Inspector General, Scottish Rite of Iowa. I went away impressed with his message that Masons are being called to step forward for community service. I would like to see a Feast of the Holy Saints John held at the Clinton Masonic Center by the Blue Lodges in Clinton this forthcoming December.
The Installation of Lodge Officers for Emulation Lodge #255, Western Star Lodge #100, and Lyons Lodge #93 will be Saturday, January 23, 2009, at 3:30 pm at the Lodge. We invite all Masons to join us for dinner after the Installation of Officers. Several of the Past Masters will be serving spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, salad and dressing, cake and ice cream, with beverages. The cost is $10.00 per person, and ladies are welcome to attend.
On a solemn note, a great Mason and my High #12 Brother, Harold Johnson 33* has taken ill. I have had the privilege of getting to know Br. Harold the past four years. He grew up in the Rock Falls area, and as a young man settled into the Morrison area. He was married at Bethany Lutheran Church and opened a photographer business in Morrison. Br. Harold is the last Charter member of Clinton High #12, and has served as Master of Ceremonies for the Installation Banquet for over twenty years. He told me that he missed one installation when his spouse passed. Let's pray that Br. Harold is present on Saturday, January 30, 2010, to install Br. Don Nickelyson as Secretary, Br. Lee McClure, and Br. Leonard Lewis as Vice Presidents; and Br. Larry Dolton as President. Don't forget to visit Br. Harold at Mercy Medical Center - North in Room #423!
Br. Mark Cottrell MI, a dual member of Camanche Lodge #60 and Lyons Lodge #93, and Grand Marshall of the Iowa Grand Lodge, will have a reception held at the Clinton Masonic Center on Saturday, April 17, 2009. Further information will follow in the Booster News when the final details have been arranged.
In Masonry,
Dave Jindrich, WM Elect
