Br. William E. Leffingwell PM was the first Worshipful Master of Lyons Lodge #93.  in 1857.  The Lodge has produced two Grand Masters of Iowa Masons:

Br. Aylett R. Cotton

1855-1856

Br. Milo T. Gabriel

1923-1924

On April 28, 2007, Lyons Lodge #93 celebrated 150 year Sesquicentennial Rededication under the guidance of Br. Howard Neese II, PM [2002, 2007] and Br. David Spooner, PM[1976], District Lecturer.

“ Masonry in Clinton today is symbolic of the mighty fraternity that is strong and stately.  Our duties are yet completed. Our roots have grown deep, built on an unshaken foundation.  This giant superstructure which represents 150 years of Masonry was begun by our early brethren who worked unceasingly and untiringly with courage, zeal, and determination.  Had not this endeavor from the very beginning received but the finest care and attention of its craftsmen through these past decades, had they not spread the finest cement with the Mason’s Special Tool, our fraternity today would not be as universally recognized by its strength and witness of its renowned philanthropically benevolence

The future of Lyons Lodge #93 will continue to be progressive, in its growth in the hands of the brethren, who will continue to rise stately and magnificently if we do not deviate from the laws so earnestly recommended by the Masonry’s progenitors.

If Br. Leffingwell was here today on this memorable occasion and could see to what proportions his Lodge has grown from its small beginnings when he first presided over it, he would be pleased in glad for the part he took in its inception.”
