Brethren of Home Lodge#370, September-October, 2009
Lodge News:
The month of August was one to be remembered. Our roof repair was completed and our Lodge room was repaired back to its orrignal condition. I would like to Thank all the Brethren who had a part in getting our Lodge room back in order. This was quite an undertaking in itself. The Brothers who derserve the most credit for the Dismantaling and restoring the Lodge to its orrignal statess are, Guy and Bill Freeman, Dick Tharp and Greg Spooner.
Our Stated Meeting was held in our Dinning area, since our Lodge room was not completed at that time. Since we were still dark we had no meal. We did hold our ballotting for the all expense trip to Grand Lodge. This was won by our Tyler Herb Ramsey, congradulations Brother Herb, I’m sure you will have a Great time, since it has been a few years of not attending Grand Lodge.
We were able to have two 2nd Degrees in august, on August 20th we opened Lodge for the purpose of doing a 2nd Degree for Brother Trevor Grass, this Degree was confered by our Senior Warden Jerry Gymer, I might add that this was Jerry’s first time doing a Degree. Great job Jerry, and again welcome Trevor as our newest Fellowcraft.
On August 27th we opened Lodge for the purpose of doing a 2nd Degree for Brother Eric Holland, welcome Eric and Thank both of these new Fellowcrafts for choosing Home Lodge. We at Home look forward to your Master Mason Degrees.
On the 3rd of September we held our 2nd Fish Fry and Prospect night of 2009, attendance was light, but we did get “2” new petions and this is Great news. Thanks to all the Brothers who helped prepare, serve and clean-up for this event. Remember Brothers we need the support of the Home Lodge Brethren as well as visitors to help make these events successful.
On September 10th we held our Stated Meeting; the evening began at 6:30pm with a Fine meal of Spaghetti and Meat-Balls with all the fixins. Thanks to all who helped prepare and serve. At 7:30pm we had our Stated Meeting where items of the Grand Lodge were presented by our Secretary, Most Worshipful Brother Bud Erickson.
On the 17th many of us traveled to Grand Lodge in Cedar Rapids where we found ourselfs in schools or meetings . We did get the Lodge of the year award, but fell short of the plus-1 award by “4” as a result of SNPD’s. So Brethren Please keep your dues paid and keep active in Lodge. I can now announce to everyone that the High-light of Grand Lodge was that our own Brother Herbert Ramsey, our Beloved Tyler and Past Master of Home Lodge received the T. S. Parvin award for the 2008-2009 year. What an Honor and privlige it was to esscort Brother Herb to the East to receive his Award from Most Worshipful Grand Master Jack Butler and George Harrison. Brother Herb is very deserving of this High Award and I know he will be very Proud to wear this Jewel the rest of his life. So, when you see Worshipful Brother Herb ask to see this High Mark of Disticntion. Congradulations Herb on the job of a Mason Well Done. Also I would like to Thank Ron Hicks for taking Herb and Francis to Grand Lodge and getting them back home safe and sound
On the 24th of September we opened Lodge for the purpose of raising Brother Trevor Grass to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason. This Degree was confered by Worshipful Master Mel Moore, and Most Worshipful Brother Bud Erickson as King Solomon in the second section. Congadulations Brother Trevor on becoming our newest Master Mason this year. After receiving his Degree Brother Trevor informed us that this makes him a 3rd genneration Mason, Wow that is Great News.
On the 26th of September we held our Fall Dinner, a Minute Steak dinner with all the goodies that go with this meal. First I would like to Thank Worshipful Brother Greg Spooner, his dad Ron Spooner, and David Constable for prepareing this Fine Meal. Again attendance was “Light”, but all who came had plenty to eat and a good time was had by all. Remember Brothers this too was a “Home Lodge” event.
