Brethren of Home Lodge #370 February 2010
The first month of being Master has been overwhelming, with all of the duties and responsibility of the Station. But with help of all of my Officers (elected and appointed), Past Masters, D.L’s. and M.I’s, I know that Home Lodge will continue to be the Best Lodge in the State of Iowa.
As you know by now, we held our Installation of Officers on January 2, 2010. I would like to again thank the Installing Officers, Most Worshipful Brother Charles L. Brinkerhoff, Most Worshipful Brother Robert H. (Bud) Erickson, Worshipful Brother Richard E. Tharp, and Worshipful Brother Daryl L. Barnard for the excellent job they completed for our installation, and to also thank everyone who helped with serving our refreshments afterwards.
On January 26th, Home Lodge was host to the Polk Jasper Study Group, and after a very fine meal of Ham and Beans with cornbread, we had an excellent 2nd Degree school directed by Worshipful Brothers John Barry Kane and Wade Sheeler, with the assistance of several attending DL’s and MI’s. This school was very well attended by the Brethren of Home Lodge, as well as visiting Brethren from some of our neighboring lodges.
On January 28th we completed the Second Degree on Zachary Abrams and completed his Third Degree on February 04th.
Brethren I would like to again make a request that you send your e-mail address to Brother Bud Erickson, so he can update his records and if you use text messaging (and would like to be contacted in that manner), please give that information to Brother Erickson too. His e-mail address is REric78387@aol.com.
On a sadder note four Brothers of Home Lodge laid down their working tools and met the Great Architect of the Universe. The Brothers were all fifty plus members of Home Lodge. Our brothers were Lloyd V. Polson (Uncle of Junior Warden William E. Polson III), Ben Witten, George R. Frink, and John “Jack” P. Allen.
The family of John P. Allen requested a Masonic Service and it was performed by Worshipful Brother Daryl L. Barnard and Worshipful Brother Melvin T. Moore, with fourteen other Brothers in attendance. This is what Masonry is about – we, as Masons, made a promise to our Brethren that when their work here on earth was finished, and a request for a Masonic Service was made, that we will be there for them and their family. The family was very thankful for the service and spoke in length about it with several of the Brothers.
