On Thursday, May 22, Master Mike Wallace held a Spring Dinner for Otley Lodge # 299 members, local teachers and guests.  Don Strassburg was honored for 50 years of service and was presented with a letter, certificate and pin from the Grand Lodge of Iowa.  Past Masters of the lodge were recognized as well.

David Pratt presented Excellence in Education Awards to Karen Menz, Nancy Geikin, Marline Johnson and Sue Leslie. These teachers have served the Perry Public Schools for a total of 135 years.  Karne Menz served 31 years, Nancy Geikin served 33 years, Marline Johnson served 31 years and Sue Leslie served 40 years.  These four teachers have impacted the lives of over 12,000 students.  Each teacher received a certificate from the Grand Lodge of Iowa honoring them for their dedication and service.

Naturalist  Laura Zaugg, a member of the Dallas County Conservation Board, gave a very interesting presentation on Iowa owls.  Many facts about the abilities of owls fascinated the audience and they were able to see live owls-up close.

Tim Norbom and Kathy Klatt from Perry’s Smokehouse served a meal of briskets, cheesy potatoes, green bean casseroles, salads/rolls, pecan and apple pies.

Naturalist, Laura Zaugg talked to Masons and their guests about the special abilities of the Barred Owl.
