Greetings from the East
The year has been going quickly and things continue to come at us. For those of you who missed the last stated meeting we had a sweet corn and bologna supper before the meeting and it was a success based on the comments from the brothers. I would like to do it again next year and try to make it even bigger than this year.
As September rolls around it is again time for Grand Lodge and all the fun that goes along with that. I missed it last year due to dealing with my mother’s illness and I look forward to going again this year as your representative.
Things also continue to get busy again with the school year starting for me and of course the football season kicking off. I have two sons who will be participating at different levels this year and I am the proud father looking forward to both seasons. One will be a junior playing at the high school level and my fifth grade son will be playing in a youth league.
I am also a Cyclone supporter who is looking forward to having a coach that I can support again and excited to see what Paul Rhoads brings to the program this season. Speaking of Cyclone football there is going to be another All Masonic Tailgate in Ames at the Iowa – Iowa State Football game on September 12, 2009. The game kicks off at approximately 11:00 AM and the tailgate will begin around 8:00 is my understanding. Check for announcements at the stated meeting in September for further details or we will send out email as well.
Speaking of the stated meeting there may be a conflict for those of you who have season tickets for the Cyclones as the home opener is that night September 3, 2009 at 7:00 PM. I am concerned that we may have a lower than usual turnout and would like to have you contact either Marty Jacobs or myself if you would like to eat prior to the meeting. There is a meal planned but if we will not have enough to make it worthwhile for the affiliated body to prepare the meal we should cancel it. Please email me at psquaredmiller@gmail.com or Marty at mljacobs@huxcomm.net by August 27th, 2009 if you want reservations for the meal that night or we may cancel it. If you do not have email, call me at 515-298-2945. There is some business that will need to be taken care of that night so if you can make it please attend.
We have set the date for the Table Lodge for Thursday October 15, 2009. The other details will be basically the same with the cost for the ticket at $25 and we would like to have reservations for that event made as well. You can again contact either Marty or me for the reservation and would appreciate those responses as early as possible.
If you like to plan ahead we are looking at setting a night to honor Veterans and Past Masters in November and will plan a holiday dinner for December as has become a tradition. We will announce the dates at the stated meeting and thanks for your support. That is about all for now. I hope to see you out at the lodge.
