Greetings from the East

I would like to thank our past master's who attended the Past Master's Dinner on May 8th.  It was great to see many of you there and we had a great attendance that evening.  A big "thank you" goes to Dave Baker for coordinating the event along with Fredrick Killian and Tom Meskan (and all their respective ladies) for helping to prepare the dinner.  Additionally, at the Past Master's Dinner, we also recognized our teacher of the year, Mary Kautzky.  Mary is a teacher at the Ames High School where she has taught for over 25 years.  As Masons, we should all be supportive of our public school system and its teachers; so if you see (or know) Mary, be sure to congratulate her on this honor!

On another note, I had the opportunity to spend a week in London and Paris in May.  It was a good trip and I was able to visit the Grand Lodge of England.  It is definitely a great place to go visit and I would highly encourage anyone who is thinking about going to London to schedule some time and visit their building.  Its architecture is phenomenal and the Grand Lodge room itself is an impressive sight to see.  Additionally, the Grand Lodge of England has a nice museum of Masonic artifacts that is quite impressive.

As we approach the month of June, we are going to have a friendship night at the lodge on June 26, 2008 beginning at 7:00 p.m.  We will have a short program and give an overview of masonry and what the fraternity does.  So, if you know of any individuals who you believe would be interested in learning more about our fraternity and/or joining, please be sure to invite them.  More information will be given at the stated meeting in June.

Finally, if you have not signed up for the dinner prior to the stated meeting in June, be sure to notify our secretary, Jay Cole Simser to reserve a spot.
