FREEMASONRY
~ A WAY OF LIFE ~
Greetings from the East,
Brothers, I am writing this with a heavy heart. I stated at the installation that this was to be a year about the trowel. Spreading the cement of brotherly love and affection that cement which unites us into one sacred band or Society of Friends and brothers is to be our goal. We have not been following those words recently and have been taking each other for granted instead. I have been as guilty of it as anybody in the lodge but that must change.
We must remember that there are stresses and pressures on us in our lives at all times and that when we are talking with others that they too have those stresses and pressures. Sometimes those come in conflict with each other even when there should be no anger or animosity between two brothers; tensions arise because of these outside stresses and not because of the lodge business that they originally were addressing. Then we lose our tempers or get upset and forget that the person we are dealing with may have similar pressures on him as well. We then throw up walls of defense, barriers to communication get started and an impasse results. With no communication taking place these walls become greater and we no longer have a community of friends and brothers but become a group of men with veins of animosity beginning to chip away at or ideals and the relationships that we should value.
I would remind you brothers that this year is to be about mending fences or removing them altogether. I envision a lodge where we can come together and serve each other as well as our community. I thought that I saw some of that at our fellowship night at the end of January. It was supposed to be a night when we could hang out with friends and have some fun. I think that the first one was a success overall with a game of Cyclone-opoly (forgive my spelling if it is incorrect) and people visiting, laughing, and relaxing.
We have opportunities every day to spread the cement of love and friendship which is what we are told to do according to one of the great lights, “Love one another.” It is simple and we must strive to walk a mile in another man’s shoes and accept them for who they are and what they are going through in life as well. Acting upon the square of virtue and treating each other with respect and consideration fairly without prejudices.
Along these lines we have an opportunity to take part in the Grand Master’s Re-obligation night on Monday, March 30th. The ceremony has been released and it is not exactly all of the obligations in their entirety but it will certainly remind us of what we committed to do as Masons in our three obligations. I want to invite all of you to come to the lodge on that night and join other brothers around the state who will be re-committing themselves to doing this great and glorious work. Bring your white leather apron and wear it proudly. If you can not find your apron, come on out anyway, we still have the cloth aprons at the lodge and we will turn no brother away. It will be a night of fellowship and a chance to meet brothers you have not met or get acquainted with some old friends.
I thank you for your support of this and all our activities at the lodge and I continue to look forward to serving you as Master.
Fraternally,
Paul Miller
Worshipful Master

GUESS THE ARCADIA MASON?
Feel like you don’t know your fellow brothers in the lodge? You may be missing out on a life long friendship filled with love, respect and fraternal kinship. You may be surprised to find that you have more in common with these great men than you think. To aid in this venture you are herby being brought from darkness to light on the many wonderful Arcadia brothers that surround us everyday. This year will embark a great journey for what I hope to be a long tradition of us all getting to learn about each other.
