Greetings from the East

Brothers of Arcadia Lodge, we have a big night coming up on November 5th.  We are having election of officers but we are also honoring our Past Masters with the dinner before the meeting.  This meal will begin at 6 P.M. which is earlier than usual to allow for a short program after the meal and before the stated meeting.  I remind all Past Masters to make reservations with Brother Jay Cole Simser for you and your spouse or if you are bringing your girlfriend instead that is OK too.  We ask that you limit it to one or the other though please.
All other brothers are encouraged to come out and support this dinner to honor our brothers who have served as Masters and to enjoy the fellowship during the dinner.  The price for the meal will be $12 for this night and it will be a wonderful meal prepared by Amaranth.  Feel free to also bring your spouses or girlfriends as the case may be for the tasty meal and time to share some stories together.
As I mentioned earlier the elections will be held that night as well and it would be nice to have a good turn out for the elections of officers for the upcoming year.  A good turnout will show support to the new line and allow us to renew the friendships that we have with so many of our brothers.  I look forward to seeing you at the meeting.  For those of you who missed the Table Lodge you missed a great one.  The festivities were conducted by our MC, Brother Bob Allen, and he did another bang up job.  Marty Jacobs should be given a big hand for the organization of the meal and the speaker.  Senior Grand Warden of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge for the State of Iowa and Jurisdictions, Inc, Brother Eddie Sauls gave an informative and impassioned history of the Prince Hall Lodge and how it arrived in Iowa.  He may have given one of the longest presentations that we have had at a table lodge but I was so caught up in his enthusiasm that I did not notice.  I think that he has more information to offer and if you ever get a chance to hear his presentation you should take the opportunity to listen and learn.
I think that the best thing that was mentioned that night was what he said when asked about any aspirations to attain the office of Grand Master and Eddie replied that his only aspirations in Masonry of any kind were to help spread the knowledge and make it stronger for the future.  I was inspired by him and his comments.  If we all would work to keep improving Masonry we could continue to see our fraternity grows and continue to work and improve our communities and society.
That is all for now.  I look forward to finishing out the year and continuing to serve the lodge.  Thanks for the opportunity to serve.

Fraternally,
Paul Miller
Worshipful Master
